Managed a development team responsible for: Corporate & Foundation Relations; University Libraries, Student Affairs; Graduate School; Global Initiatives; Parents/Family Fund. Personal focus was on the cultivation and solicitation efforts involving a portfolio of donors and prospects with capacity for transformative gifts to the University, as well as securing resources for global initiatives and engaging international alumni.

Held primary responsibility for building and maintaining key corporate partnerships for the University. In addition to building a corporate relations team, provided management for University Central Programs during a $535mil campaign.

Led eighty-six-year-old community organization through dissolution, reorganization, and re-staffing. Finished first year of operation as new 501(c)3 in positive cash position with new funding sources following a 20-year deficit. Managed team of 12 staff, contractors, interns and dozens of volunteers to provide a center of excellence for international education and citizen diplomacy. Recruited five new board members and serve as primary liaison with board

Managed alumni relations, annual funds, corporate and foundation, and major gift staff of 11 under VP of Student and University Affairs. Drafted 5 year strategic plan in preparation of $50 mil capital campaign to begin in 2011 and completed a successfully completed a $3.2 mil campaign for new science building. In addition to managing top prospect portfolio, streamlined procedures and increased fundraising capacity by current staff. In FY07, staff raised largest number of 6+ figure gifts, increased annual fund by 40% (largest total ever); developed/instituted national alumni chapter program (regional, affinity and reunion groups); and exceeded annual development goals.

Identified, cultivated and solicited major gifts in support of the College’s successful $93 mil capital campaign. Maintained portfolio of 150 major gift prospects. Staffed college president, trustees, and regional volunteers. Increased employee giving campaign participation from 23% to 74% in FY04.

As Director of Development for School of Medicine, coordinated peer team of development directors from other health science schools to qualify, cultivate and solicit individuals for major gifts. Raised major gifts in support of the University’s $1bil capital campaign. Designed “Legacy Scholar” program for cultivating major gift prospects. Created “Pitt Med on the Road” program to increase alumni participation.

Co-founder of a consulting firm that provided coordinated services to over fifty nonprofit clients in the areas of: grantwritng, development plans and staffing, event management, board training, feasibility study and campaign coordination, marketing and publicity campaigns, and contracted advancement services.
