This placement gave me the opportunity to provide acute and critical care Occupational Therapy services to adults with varying diagnoses. At Olathe Medical Center I completed evaluations, daily treatments, daily notes, discharges, and billing. I collaborated and co-treated with physical therapists and worked closely with the nursing staff, rehabilitation aids, and patient care assistants. I also provided patient and family education on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, discharge recommendations, and safety during activities of daily living and mobility.

During this placement, I provided post-acute, acute, and critical care Occupational Therapy services to adults with varying diagnoses. My mornings consisted of working with patients in acute care and my afternoons consisted of working with patients in post-acute rehabilitation. In both settings, I completed evaluations, daily treatments, daily notes, discharges, and billing. I worked collaboratively with physical therapists, speech pathologists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy assistants, nursing staff, and physicians. I provided patient and family education on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, discharge recommendations, and safety during activities of daily living and mobility.
