I regularly perform adult and pediatric venipuncture and EKGs, monitor vitals, assist with procedures (IUD insertions/removals, suture removals, cryotherapy, etc.), coordinate with the CDC and DOH to collect and process samples and report results, interpret lab reports and communicate results to patients, and train new hires as we work to expand pediatrics in our New York offices.

As an intern at New York Methodist Hospital, I directly interacted with and assisted patients in the ICU, communicated with patients during their hospitalization in able to insure that they were comfortable and that their needs were being met, and supported nurses and other staff to improve the quality of patient care. I also attended lectures by health practitioners, shadowed physicians in various specialties (emergent pediatrics, neurology, gynecology/obstetrics, etc.), and attended workshops on improving communication with patients.

As a medical office assistant, I scheduled approximately 250 appointments for the physician and physician assistant weekly, reviewed and updated insurance information, reason for visit, medical history, and referring doctor for patients upon check-in, and streamlined patients’ medical histories by inputting over 40,000 patient charts into electronic database. I also managed multi-line telephones, deliveries and shipments, and the handling of lab samples.

As a receptionist at William Barthman, I maintained professional correspondence with clients via email, fax, and telephone. I handled daily cash/credit transactions and organized a log of financial transactions and generated invoices. I also produced and delivered thousands of corporate gifts and awards.
