My experience is principally of traditional, vernacular and polite buildings, churches and industrial revolution hybrid (technological/vernacular) historic buildings, together with the reuse and regeneration of buildings or sites and development in sensitive locations. I am on the British Standards Institute's Committee for the Conservation of cultural heritage. I was on the drafting panel for BS 7913:2013, the Guide to the conservation of historic buildings; and was UK expert for BS EN 16096:2012 'Condition survey and report of built cultural heritage', the European Standard for the condition survey of historic buildings. I am a corresponding member of the RIBA's Regulations and Standards Committee and a co-opted member of the Manchester Diocesian Advisory Comittee.
