About Rik Zak
I am a filmmaker and writer who started my journey in 2011 by attending the Truby Screenwriting Program and Philosophy in Story Programs, led by writing coach John Truby in Los Angeles. I received Certificates of Excellence for both programs. In 2017, I co-founded Wu Long Media with Jun Ren, a filmmaker based in Shanghai. My professional path initially began with studying design and advertising at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary. In 1976, I moved to New York City to further my education in advertising, design, and illustration at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). After years of working as a Creative Director at Schroeder Inc., a content and brand development agency with global clients, I left my position as Professor Emeritus at the Alberta University of the Arts to pursue my true passion - filmmaking.

N.Y. as a principal. There he worked for such clients as: Cross River Design, Fiduciary Trust International, Greystone & Co (mortgage banking), Greystone Home Collection, Japan Airlines, Jim Thompson Fabrics, British Airways, Roche-Bobois, Viking Range Corporation, VTech, and Saratoga Beer. His design work as been acknowledged in publications as: Studio Magazine (Toronto); Idea Magazine (Tokyo); Graphis Books, (New York), P.E.I. Books (Japan) and the Toronto Art Directors Club.
