In my second year at the University of Iowa, I have taken on the role of a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Macroeconomics, teaching three discussion sections each week to over 100 students. My primary objective is to serve as a valuable resource for students, guiding them through complex economic concepts and helping them prepare effectively for homework, quizzes, and exams. I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions.This role allows me to actively facilitate discussions, promoting critical thinking and deeper understanding among students. Additionally, this experience has been instrumental in enhancing my public speaking and interpersonal skills, as I continuously adapt my communication style to meet the diverse needs of my students. At Oasis Therapeutics, a healthcare organization dedicated to mental health, I took on the role of a Business Development Intern, contributing to our mission of providing innovative treatments for therapy and medication-resistant mood and pain disorders. Our treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Ketamine Infusions, Stellate Ganglion Blocks, and Magnetic Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, offer hope to those who have not found relief through traditional methods. During my time there, I had the unique opportunity to sit with multiple patients and hear their personal stories, which deeply inspired me and fueled my passion for healthcare by revealing the tangible, life-changing impact our treatments have on people's lives.My responsibilities spanned a wide range of projects, including data analysis and the development of key performance indicator tracking systems, which were critical for measuring our success and identifying areas for improvement. One of my most significant achievements was leading the creation of a new website for Oasis Therapeutics, which I built from the ground up. This project encompassed all aspects, from research and content development to design and implementation, allowing me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's operations and the healthcare sector as a whole. The experience was both challenging and rewarding, requiring me to balance creativity with strategic thinking.Additionally, I collaborated with a private equity strategic advisor to craft a robust marketing plan and secure external funding to support our growth and expansion efforts. This aspect of my role taught me the importance of strategic partnerships and the dynamics of funding in healthcare. Overall, my time at Oasis Therapeutics was transformative, equipping me with a diverse set of skills and a deeper appreciation for the role of innovative treatments in improving the quality of life for individuals facing significant health challenges.

Upon my graduation from the University of Wisconsin, I had the opportunity to work downtown Chicago as a Performance Analyst for Marquette Associates, an investment consulting firm. I had been drawn into the financial industry following school and wanted to enhance my skills by gaining work experience in financial consulting. At Marquette, I had the privilege of managing financial statements and reconciling accounts for an extensive portfolio of diverse clients, including Chicago Transit Authority, Anheuser-Busch, and SSM Health. I developed a deep understanding of each client portfolio, which was pivotal for maintaining an asset allocation that suited their needs. On a monthly basis, I was also responsible for providing portfolio rebalancing recommendations to ensure that the portfolio risk and return were aligned to fit the specific investment goals of the various clients. As a Performance Analyst, I was also able to gain client exposure through outings, dinners, and virtual meetings. This experience not only sharpened my quantitative skills, but also instilled in me the importance of rigorous due diligence and focusing on a client-centric approach.

Junior year, I interned at Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm and a Fortune 500 company. At this internship, I had the opportunity to work on multiple teams within the company. I was a part of the Office Tenant Representation Broker Team as well as the Midwest Market Research Team.My role on the brokerage team was to prospect and analyze future clients. The brokers would then reach out to these prospective clients to obtain active deals and negotiate leases within downtown Chicago. Being a part of a brokerage team is a very client-facing role. I was fortunate enough to gain client exposure through various virtual meetings and phone calls. Additionally, I accompanied our brokers on numerous site tours allowing me to understand the importance of first impressions and building lasting relationships with clients. The other half of my internship, I spent my time working with the research team. I was responsible for maintaining and updating our internal databases. In order to do this, I created stacking plans displaying a visual representation of tenants on all floors of multi-tenant office buildings. Additionally, I gathered lease expiration data and assisted on any impromptu projects that would aid brokers in closing future deals with clients. Overall, my summer internship at CBRE allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the commercial real estate industry. I also enhanced my skills in industry databases such as Excel modeling, Argus, CoStar, and Market IQ.

At Duly Health and Care, I worked directly with the Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Working with the director, I was able to observe administrator meetings, sales presentations, and work with him throughout his role. Some of my projects consisted of creating entity organizational charts and competitor reports. These projects enhanced my abilities to problem-solve through Excel, work independently, and effectively prioritize tasks. Throughout this internship, I was also afforded the opportunity to observe surgical procedures in the operating room. Being a pre-med major at the time, this internship allowed me to understand the physician side of the business and gain a comprehensive administrative understanding of how a surgical center is operated. My main project at Duly was a supply-chain process improvement project. The goal was to streamline the process of maintaining and administering drugs throughout the facility. Through this project, I was able to improve the elimination of expired drugs, accuracy of par levels, and validity of drug substitution, allowing for more efficiency and decreased costs. At the end of the internship, I also gave an oral presentation on my project to the C-suite executives of Duly Health and Care. I further enhanced my ability to convey information in a clear and logical way, while keeping my audience engaged in the presentation.

As a caddie, I used my strong communication skills and strategic knowledge to add value to the game for golfers. Rich Harvest Farms, a Golf Digests Top 100 course in America, is known for its comprehensive caddie program which requires rigorous training and preparation. My role as a caddie focused on providing golf course knowledge, advice on club selection, and an ear for arrant shots. However, being a caddie is not only about golf. This role allowed me to build my interpersonal skills with successful individuals from all different types of backgrounds. Throughout 18 holes, I had the opportunity to build relationships with golfers that extended outside of the golf course. Additionally, I was promoted to Elite Caddie at Rich Harvest Farms after only two months. This promotion came at the hands of the golfers that I was servicing. Enjoying their experience on the course, they recommended me for the promotion. This was a testament to my work ethic and ability to build connections with others.
