Support a high performance, big data, research data center.Expand and maintain a 1 PB+ SAN environment. Including tiers of disks, online tape archive, and offsite tape backups.Maintain several Linux and Windows processing servers with a wide variety of software. Including GPGPU support and 10GbE network.Support a HPC Linux cluster with high demand for network throughput and disk access. Utilize tools such as Maui, Torque, and modules.Maintain and configure switches, routers, and APs for multiple VLANs throughout the building to maintain constant up time for users.Utilize VMware ESXi in a HA cluster to host several flavors of VMs and applications for critical business needs.Design, plan, procure, and set up new technology to better the workflow of the data and/or processing in the data center.Work with researchers to build systems to capture data at high speeds over ice sheets. Design backup systems to provide redundant copies of massive amounts of data in remote locations of the world.

Provided system support for desktops and servers in a Windows 2008 AD environment. Supported services that were all in house. The various services such as DNS/DHCP, User account management, VPN, Email, Web site (IIS), phone system (Altigen), backups, and printing.- Set up Symantec BackupExec server and connected all clients. Created backup schedule, tested recovery from backups and disaster recovery.- Helped set up Exchange 2010 server, including OWA, and migrated all users from Exchange 2003.- Installed Microsoft Forefront TMG server. Migrated rules and settings from ISA 2006. Set up VPN IP pools and rules which connected all remote users.- Supported and serviced web server which hosted company website running IIS 6.0.- Procured server and installed Hypver-V 2008R2, which hosted a Remote Desktop Services server and also Lync 2010 server.Provided desktop support for 50+ users, most of which were remote users and/or travelling. On call 24/7 for helpdesk to ensure uptime at all hours.- Create plan to migrate XP machines to Windows 7. Set up Windows Deployment Services and set up PXE boot environment. Utilize MDT 2010 to create custom Windows 7 images for different departments and roll out plan.
