This role has shaped me into the well-rounded HR representative that I am today! Being the HR Generalist for Canada, I am involved in all components of HR. A high-level overview of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performance management and coaching; training and development, including the creation of training videos and materials; creating and executing employee engagement initiatives; recruitment and onboarding; and employee compensation and benefits. I am the main point of contact for our managers and employees alike, especially within Sales & Distribution, and I thrive in this fast-paced environment.

What started as a co-op placement to complete my post-graduate degree turned into my first real job in Human Resources! Being the only HR representative with the company, I was responsible for absolutely everything HR and Payroll related. It was a pleasure to work for one of the largest distributors of recreational services in the GTA.

I was a Research Assistant for the Industrial Organizational Psychology lab at the University of Guelph. I was very fortunate to be exposed to a few different research projects during this time. One project focused on Organizational Citizenship Behaviours (OCBs) and how men and women display OCBs in the workplace. I examined the type of OCBs each gender typically displays/participates in, as well as how companies reward OCBs, if at all. Related to this research, I also reviewed burnout and how burnout is expressed differently between genders. Another research project I was a part of focused on how working women “craft” their romantic relationships (i.e., what do they look for in a partner and how do these women want their partner to support their personal and professional goals). This research reviewed gender stereotypes that continue to exist within the North American workforce, and investigated what women want/need to change within organizations in order to ‘level the playing field’, so to speak.I also assisted head researchers in tasks such as creating a survey through Qualtrics, completing an ethics application, transcribing, and participant recruitment.
