Nasa Rocksat-X Research Project
Current2024 payload: A single 5 axis robotic arm in conjunction with an electromagnetic ejector to test the viability of compact robotics in space. Using a new eye-in-hand mounting scheme for our depth camera, we are using machine vision to track and grasp objects in microgravity. We are utilizing similar ROS (melodic) software to our previous payloads, but this year we have included more advanced robotic positioning prediction algorithms as well as object trajectory predictions using machine vision.2023 payload: A pair of 7-axis robotic arms used to play "catch" with each other in space to test the viability of a robust robotics system as well as a robust and widely applicable robotics control system using ROS. I led the software and electrical teams and contributed to the mechanical development of the payload. 2022 payload: I developed a soft robotic experiment to be tested in space through a custom hydraulic actuation system.
