Aside from calculations, my duties include delegating tasks to engineers and drafters, reviewing calculations and plans, and managing clients, budgets, and timelines from proposal creation to final construction.

My graduate student research experience has been focused on Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), investigating the mechanical and durability properties of the concrete using ASTM standards, and researching the effects of various field influences on UHPC strength and behavior. Further, I conducted in depth strength analyses to explore the applicability of the new age structural material for use by MDT in bridge deck bonding. I have also been responsible for managing two undergraduate students for the duration of my project. While my research work enhanced my technical knowledge, it also further improved my written and verbal communication skills, along with independent time management capabilities.

During my summer internship at DCI Engineers, I gained valuable practical design experience on a wide range of project sizes and types. I performed analysis and design calculations on concrete, steel, and wood utilizing both hand calculations and software. My responsibilities also included determining project design loads, performing load calculations and load traces on multiple types of buildings, laying out framing plans, checking shop drawings, and working with BIM software. I also performed inspections for concrete, CMU and steel construction. I had the opportunity to accompany senior engineers to site visits and meetings, further developing my professional communication skills while observing client interactions with owners, architects, and contractors.
