I am currently working as a Recreation Facilities Attendant with the City, with the responsibility of managing entire recreational facilities in a leadership role. In this position, I have been gaining experience with documenting safety and maintenance issues, providing customer service to many demographics of the general public and even leading responses to emergency situations. I was also responsible for following and enforcing Covid-19 guidelines on sanitation during the pandemic period.

I Worked as a Lifeguard and Aquatics Instructor for over 2 years with the City, completing a number of safety-sensitive tasks while learning how to teach vital life-saving skills. I spent this time gaining communication experience with large groups of people, consisting of many demographics and age groups. I continued employment in this department until changing departments the New Year in 2020.

As an accounting clerk at PAL, I record financial information regarding both accounts payable and accounts receivable departments while maintaining a professional relationship with vendors and clients respectively. I also peer-review the work of others, investigate delays or inconsistencies within either department, record consolidated accounting records for the general ledger, and contribute new ideas to a dynamic work environment.

I completed my third and final work term with PAL Aerospace. From May until August 2023, I worked in the Finance department at PAL Airlines. I learned the duties of a junior accountant, primarily focusing on month-end tasks to keep the general ledger up to date. I also reviewed and coded multiple corporate purchases, organized important financial documents for potential auditors, reconciled old financial statements, and researched a valuable ESG project for my end-of-term presentation.

I completed my second work term at JVPLabs through Bounce Health Innovation. From August through September, I worked on completing marketing research while conducting networking on an international scale, much of which was on-site in Harlow, England. I also honed my research skills by studying a foreign nation’s healthcare system (the largest in the world). Finally, I learned the value of ambition and communication for a small business while thousands of kilometers from my comfort zone.

I completed my first work term as a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) student at Cenovus Energy. From January to April 2022, I was in a Business Analyst Intern position with the Business Services Department. I spent my time here rapidly improving my skills in both Microsoft Office software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) as well as various other software including SAP. In the summer of 2019, I worked as a Field Marshall during a seasonal employment opportunity at the Mount Pearl Soccer Association. I performed maintenance, assisted with scheduling, provided customer service, and administered emergency first aid treatment on several occasions. I continued employment until the end of the seasonal employment contract, at which time I started University.

I spent over 2 years working for New World Fitness as a Lifeguard/Aquatics instructor. In this role I focused more on interpersonal relationships in private or semi-private swim lessons, while still making sure I was teaching safety skills. This meant that I was able to develop a rapport with my clients, allowing me to more closely focus on customer service for students with special needs. I continued employment with New World Fitness until the business closed in summer 2019.
