Started at Revolution Recording in October 2012 as an intern, 2 weeks after graduating from an Audio Engineering Diploma. As an intern I was cleaning, making coffee and doing basically anything needed, leading to me helping out in session whenever necessary. My first assistant engineering credit was from early 2013 on Protest The Hero's 'Volition' which earned a Juno for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year and debuted at 20 on the Billboard 200 in the US. After being promoted, I would spend 2 years as an engineer at Revolution working with top international acts like The Weeknd, Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, Nelly Furtado, Passion Pit, One Republic and Ryan Tedder, and many, many more. I also worked on many important recordings including Juno award winning albums, a Polaris Prize winning album (a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label), and even the world record first album ever to be recorded in Space. Aside from being in session with the artists recording and mixing, I was also involved in many of technical developments at Revolution. Notable helping in the installation of a brand new Neve Genesys in Revolution's brand new Studio C. I was also required to maintain and fix common problems that arise with vintage analog recording equipment on the fly in session. My last task at Revolution was to install a mix card modification to all 32 of Revolution's 80 series Neve's 1981 modules. A custom modification designed by Chief Engineer Joe Dunphy.My time at Revolution allowed me an old school music industry education. Moving from intern, to staff engineer, eventually to free lance producer, the same way many of my production idols started their careers. Being able to align a tape machine, record to tape, maintain and operate vintage analog recording equipment is something I value as much as my Pro Tools chops or modern production skills.
