Path to Independence is a postsecondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities at the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities. I started as the job developer and am now the project coordinator. I am in charge of making sure all the pieces are in place and ensuring students and support staff are set up to succeed. In addition to that I facilitate ongoing person-centered planning with students to determine desired employment outcomes and secure them internships and employment. I am also responsible for pre-employment activities and developing a soft-skills curriculum for Path to Independence and other students with intellectual disabilities in the community.

Talent Framework is a staffing agency where I work as the senior recruiter. It is a dynamic little company where I’m fortunate enough to be in a position to help people every day. We staff for a variety of light industrial, clerical, and professional positions. On any given day I might talk to as many as 50 different job seekers and 20 different companies that are in need of employees. Building relationships with both the companies and the job seekers is essential to succeeding in this fast-paced industry. Counseling and advising job seekers of all ages is something I do on a daily basis as well.

This is a small concrete delivery company located in Hazen, Nevada that is owned and operated by my parents. I worked here on the weekends when I was in college. In this position I was responsible for everything from supervising crews to pulling weeds.

While working at the front desk of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) I learned a lot about working with the diverse student population of a college campus. Being able to clearly communicate thoughts and policies was a huge strength of mine while working here. I was responsible for providing the campus community with information to help in understanding and navigating ASUN while staying well versed in all policy and educational matters as well. Explaining the procedures and rules of student government and clubs was also a big part of my job as I was the main point of contact for all of the students on campus.

- Constructed and compiled an extensive after action report for a nationwide military training exercise.- Acted as the public information officer (PIO) for the government staff.- Wrote various news articles for the local newspaper regarding charity work and events taking place.- Organized and planned employee meetings.

Responsibilities:- Identifying, contacting and arranging meetings with non-profit organizations regarding their interest in working with college students or senior citizens through skills-based volunteering.- Created 50+ new volunteer opportunities in the Reno area.

By far my favorite position of all time was working as a student ambassador for Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). The reason I enjoyed this position so much is because I was able to interact with students and help them obtain degrees that would improve their lives. While working in this position I represented TMCC at recruitment fairs, coordinated college events and campus visits from K-12 schools, gave tours to groups ranging from 1 to 50 people, and most importantly I advised students on what classes to take and helped them build a schedule that would work for them.
