Project InternNasa Ames Research Center May 2024 - PresentMountain View, California, United StatesThis past summer I had the extrodianry opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented individauls in the industry during my internship at NASA Ames Research Center. I worked on the Heatshield for Extreme Entry Environment Technology (HEEET) project in the Thermal Protection Materisals Branch Entry Systems Modeling. My project focused on a specific 3D woven carbon yarn infused with a phenolic matrix designed to withstand the harsh conditions of atmospheric reentry. My role involved analyzing material samples, searching for and examining variability, and conducting data analysis and simulations to evaluate the materials' ability to withstand harsh conditions, contributing to advancements in heatshield technology.Throughout the summer, I attended seminars on a variety of NASA projects and participated in tours of multiple facilities, broadening my understanding of the diverse research and development efforts at NASA. I had weekly meetings with my mentors, Lauren Abbott and Justin Haskins, to discuss the progress of my project and to receive valuable feedback. At the end of my internship, I presented my findings in a poster session (available upon request) and gave a presentation to my branch and its leadership, summarizing the advancements made during my time there. I am continuing this research throughout the school semester, aiming to achieve further conclusions and results. -
