Work under Dr. Jon Velotta exploring the genetic changes underlying rapid and repeated freshwater adaptation in populations of river herring. I performed DNA extraction from over 110 samples of muscle tissue that was sent for whole genome sequencing. I then used the Broad Institute GATK pipeline for initial processing of my data, using bash scripting through DU's HPC for all data processing steps. I use R packages and bash programs for population genetic analyses and calculations including PCAs (PCAdapt), pairwise FST (PLINK), runs of homozygosity (PLINK), inbreeding coefficients (vcftools), outlier SNP detection (PCAdapt and BayeScan), and quantifying parallel allele frequency changes between population pairs (AF-vapeR). I presented a exploratory methods poster at the 2023 Evolution conference, and will be giving a comprehensive presentation at the 2024 Evolution conference titled "Rapid and repeated human-mediated selection in a formerly migratory fish". My work will conclude in a capstone defense presentation in October 2024.

Taught labs for a variety of biology classes, which included creating overview presentations on the material for that week, grading lab reports and other assignments, guiding students through lab workflows, and providing one-on-one tutoring when necessary. Managing the creation of the Colgate Salmagundi Yearbook through designing photograph spreads, communicating with Colgate staff and faculty, and organizing and overseeing the work of the assistant editors.

Working with students individually on a regular basis throughout the semester for both Physics and Biology classes to review lecture topics, work through homework problems, or study for exams.

Assisting the students taking ASTR102 Stars, Galaxies, and the Universe class with their learning, through reviewing lecture notes, going over study questions, and preparing for exams, facilitated in both individual and group sessions.

Collecting data on the optical variability of quasars at Colgate University's Foggy Bottom Observatory, as well as analyzing and reducing this data through the use of programs and coding languages such as AstroImageJ and MATLAB. Capstone of this research was presenting at the 2021 KNAC Symposium with both an oral presentation and a written paper on the project.
