Uw Trout Lake Station
Boulder Junction, Wisconsin
Photographed, wrote about world-class research conducted at the UW-Madison Center for Limnology's (CFL) Trout Lake Station (TLS) in Boulder Junction, WI. As a Juday-Huffman Fellow in science communication--and to increase general-audience understanding of research at TLS--my independent project focused on visually compelling, narrative-format posts published on CFL WordPress blog through an original series called "Off the Reel." "Off the Reel" featured a different research team of undergraduates, grad students and/or full-time staff researchers in the field every week at TLS.Updated TLS' social media accounts for general-audience understanding, primarily utilizing campaign "#OffTheReel" on Instagram (@wisclimnology). Increased Instagram followership by over 40 percent in 4 months. Upheld position as point-of-contact for local media, organized and managed seventh annual TLS Open House presenting researchers findings to surrounding community members. Event drew 174 visitors from across Northwoods Wisconsin.
