During my work experience program with Etec Group, I shadowed and learned the skills of Quantity Surveyors and Estimators. I was able to gain an understanding of various concepts such as JCT contracts, bills of quantities, procurement in construction, cost reconciliation, value engineering and how to overcome variations. I was also lucky enough to attend a site visit in which we inspected the area which was planned for renovation and took photos of the necessary locations. This solidified my desire to pursue a career in QS and was a fantastic opportunity.
