About Ricardo Gomez

As a seasoned Visual Effects (VFX) artist, I’ve seamlessly blended my educational background in Industrial Design with my artistic sensibilities. The VFX industry, with its fusion of creativity and technology, has been my canvas for over a decade. The unique combination of technical expertise and artistic flair has allowed me to contribute to some of the most iconic movies and TV shows produced by top studios in North America.Recently, I had the privilege of leading a team of CG generalists as a lighting lead on two of my most recent projects. This experience honed my problem-solving skills and taught me to see the big picture—the intricate relationships between various elements—and how they contribute to project success.My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, where I first explored the 3D world. The possibilities of 3D software fascinated me, and I soon transitioned to architectural previsualization. However, I felt limited by the lack of integration with reality.Determined to be part of movie creation, I embarked on a one-year Visual Effects program in Canada. My student reel stood out in a contest, earning me a coveted paid internship at a major VFX studio in Vancouver. This opportunity kickstarted my VFX career, and I haven’t looked back since.
