Yes, I am a IP Network Exorcist :-D Every day I play, almost with Linux, Apache, Bind, ClamAV, Dovecot, MySQL, PHP, Radius, Sendmail, Tacacs but also with Cisco IOS, MikroTik RouterOS and many other devilries software and hardware. More or less all of them seasoned with the same sauce: IP protocol ;-)Over the time I have worked or at least I have played with different languages and environments. Nostalgic memory: at the end of the 1970s years, my home built computer with a Z80 CPU and 62KB of RAM (yes, 62 to leave a hole for EPROMs). After I had assembled and tested the computer with its original operating system, I added a new implementation of machine code for the bootstrap and the management of the I/O (BIOS) that was compatible with the CP/M operating system. I used it through a serial console available from a UART brutally wired to a parallel port on a board projected for printers! In fact, I made my first steps using machine language and loading the hex opcode via a keypad, only few years after I started using the assembler and the other language compilers on different architectures: Z80, 6502, 8052, 8080, 80x86, KA630-*, PIC 1[67]C*... After the CP/M my interest has been devoted to OS like OS/2, UNIX, VMS, LINUX.
