Day to day operational oversight of the Local Authority contract to deliver housing, benefit, debt and Inclusion advice to the borough of Cheltenham. Line management responsibility for four staff members, as well as overseeing sessional staff and volunteers. I am also the lead housing adviser.

I was primarily responsible for developing initiatives and delivering strategies to prevent homelessness across the district, through the use of the council's Homelessness Prevention Fund. I worked with households who were homeless and threatened with homelessness to alleviate their housing need. This often meant working quickly and flexibly to come up with innovative solutions.Typical work included:- Resolving housing benefit problems- Advising clients on maximising income, benefit entitlement and referring for debt advice- Advising landlords on their legal duties on deposit protection, serving legal notices and tenant rights- Helping households access the private rented sector by administering our deposit scheme and working with letting agents- Assisting clients with their Homeseeker Plus applications, including advice on their priority for rehousing- Giving advice on other housing options, including supported housing- Giving generalist advice on homelessness under s179 (1) of the Housing ActI was also involved in:- Delivering housing advice training to external partners such as the NHS, social services and the voluntary sector- Attending drop in sessions across the district to take housing advice out to the community. - Developing a risk assessment and referral pathway

I was responsible for coordinating and managing a number of multi-agency projects. I was expected to undertake work on my own initiative and to specified deadlines, whilst maintaining high standards of quality. My job involved analysing, interpreting and disseminating complex information, as well as offering advice and recommendations on particular subjects e.g. adapting to climate change; an ageing population; armed forces communities.I needed to adapt quickly to difficult situations, make sound judgments based on the information that is available, and work well under pressure; often delivering information and advice to senior managers and Members.
