* Recognized and reorganized certain parts of the app that could be broken down into modules to better reuse our codebase. Took a monolithic flask application and modularized it by breaking the app and subdivided certain components to create a micro service architecture using RabbitMQ as the message broker and nameko as the overlying Python framework.* Evaluated technologies and frameworks. Incorporated Mongodb, Redis, Rabbitmq, Celery and nameko.* Redesigned the database to correctly model our data. This included correctly setting up relationships, rewriting queries to lower the amount of times our database got hit, rewrote queries so that our database did most of the computing instead of the application, setup alembic migrations, rewrote certain endpoints to paginate data to provide faster responses and better performance. This was done with user usage and experience always in mind.* Optimized the application for speed and efficiency by providing a caching layer using Redis and a backing database using Mongo. Through the use of Redis, fetching logs (100K+) went from 60 seconds to 1 second. Giving us a 60X increase in speed. Logs are important to our customers since we bill them depending on usage of our product and that is contained in the logs.* After every new technology imposed or different methodology followed I updated the project’s wiki to facilitate the usage of our app to new developers along with old developers unfamiliar with these new standards/techs.
