Database design and development using MS Access, SharePoint and MS SQL. Created a KANBAN process to track HP Laser jet Defects and Enhancements through various states of the HP Tech-Marketing Lab's processes.MS Access was used to fast track the KABAN process. The KANBAN was on-line and functioning in four weeks. SharePoint was used in the KANBAN process for state change and data reporting using Web-Parts. From this data overall state turn-around-times, Engineering workloads and customer issue tracking reports were generated. As the amount of tracking data grew within Access, approaching 500,000 records, the KANBAN was migrated into MS SQL.

Process Tool Development Manager

Manpower Professional

Developed several process tools to help automate data entry into a Documentum database containing software submittal metadata.Developed a process using Access to programmatically sort through multiple software submittals from a standard text file, verifying data, creating an xml file used to upload multiple product numbers and to track data entries uploaded into a Documentum database.Created DQL queries to pull data from a Documentum Software database, convert the data into a .csv file and then export into an Access database for reporting purposes. This data contained software submittal dates and times making it possible to measure overall turn-around times and monitor software work flows into the Documentum database.Developed DQL queries to pull data from a Documentum Software database for individuals to use for personal data tracking purposes. Key Achievements: Developed an automated system used for data entry which helped to organize and track software submittals. Performing the same data entry using a manual process would take 15 to 45 minutes per submittal. Using the automated process, one submittal is processed every 10 minutes cutting the processing time in half. Now, one person can do the work of two saving Hewlett Packard an estimated quarter of a million dollars, over a ten year period.Automated an Access database to gather data from 21 spreadsheets, sort the data and report out on total turn-around times, percentage of submittals that were on time and percentage of translated submittals that were publish to the web on time. Monthly reports were generated each month giving a clear picture of overall submittal times. These reports were viewed by high level management including Hewlett Packard's CEO.

Data Publishing Specialist

Manpower Professional

Worked with a content Engineering team to create a tool that would transform specified sections from a PDF file into individual XML files. These XML files were then uploaded into the content Documentum database.Used the transform tool to create XML documents. These documents were delivered to writers who would perform final edits and then upload them into the Documentum database. Tested and troubleshot the transform script and performed root cause analysis on any failures. Created an Access database used to track all failures. The transform script failures were identified, separated out and reported back to the Engineering team enabling them to stabilize the transform scripts. Key Achievements: My documentation, software programming and data collection skills made me a valuable asset to the Engineering team. Through the information I provided, the Engineers were able to develop a more stable data transforming tool. As the transform scripts became more stable, editors received a more detailed stripped out document, reducing editing errors and shortening their development times. This helped the editors develop a more stable document reducing the number of upload errors into the Documentum database.

Dec 2004 - Dec 2006

Content Conversion Engineer

Manpower Professional

Investigated non-compliant documentation to determine the root cause of failures occurring during the content data structure conversion process into a Documentum database.Inspected a standard MS Word template (used for creating documentation) for errors.Created Visual Basic scripts to update product families, models and numbers in each document's attributes so that they would comply with the values stored in a Product Master database.Documentum Database Administrator:Added new users and set up user and group permissions.Created update queries to update large groups of data.Created an Access database to enter all documentation issues to track troubleshooting activities.Key Achievements: Created DQL queries to find failing documents within a Documentum Documentation database. Then, MS Word and X-Metal were used to troubleshoot these documents' issues to the root causes by looking for failure trends, process issues, and training issues. Wrote short, step-by-step procedures describing how to repair the documents. This information was passed onto the Content Managers, who gave it to the authors, who would correct the documents. The Content Managers would then update the authors' procedures with these instructions, permanently resolving the issue.

May 2002 - Nov 2004

Technical Content Developer

Wrote technical documentation for Hewlett Packard (HP) Scanjet and Photosmart products. Used MS Word to create troubleshooting documents that were published to various websites worldwide.Collected customer comments on various documents (submitted through the website) to help clarify the customers' experience. Guided document editing through customer responses. The customers' experiences were improved. Created an Access database to track the technical writing team's documentation and their Frequently Asked Questions. Developed an Access database to import data from various metrics such as web hits, internal hits, customer satisfaction metrics, and customer comments on all documents posted to various websites.Created a report, within the Access database, using SQL to compile the metrics' data together.Key Achievements:The Access databases organized the technical writing teams' processes and supplied the team with a more defined focus. The defined focus helped combine duplicate documentation, fine tune definitions to help writers conform to ever changing writing standards, and confirm technical accuracy. By using the metrics reports, days, and in some cases week's worth of manually gathered data was compiled in a few hours.

Created an Access database to track difficult issues the outsource agents received. Set up and maintained all support tools including a parts tracking database.Troubleshot system problems.Created and maintained a website for team members and supervisors to view parts shipped issues.Created a web site with product training material on it for outsourcers to view, assisting them in their troubleshooting.Key Achievements:The Access database that tracked difficult issues enabled the outsourcer and HP teams to: Identify difficult issues.Generate a report showing resolutions for those issues.Supply repair information, which was transformed into a document. Achieve a first time fix.

Mar 1997 - Aug 2000

Failure Analysis Technician

Set-up a duplicate production line and Failure Analysis (F.A.) area from Bristol England to Boise, Idaho for the HP DDS Digital Analog Tape (DAT) line.Set-up UNIX based servers for the production line and F.A. test stations. Worked with an Oracle database, tracking products through each production station and F.A. area.Created several SQL scripts using K Shell scripting to query the Oracle database. Purchased the F.A. equipment including servers, network printers, soldering irons, storage racks and work shelves under a strict budget.Authored training material and trained production workers on repairing DDS DATS. Key Achievements:From an empty warehouse-sized work area, three weeks after receiving all the ordered parts, the production line and F.A. processes were online and building DATS. The SQL scripts pulled data from tables in the Oracle database showing build numbers, failure rates, repair rates, and the shipping rates. Transformed data into an intelligible report that was automatically E-mailed daily to all production line supervisors using K Shell scripting. These reports improved production scheduling significantly by enabling supervisors to use data from the previous day to effectively schedule production builds. The supervisors compared these rates to projected orders and made changes in parts ordering, production manufacturing hiring and logistic fine-tuning.
