As the Executive Director and acting Chief Curator at the Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem, Dr. Risa Levitt oversees the management, development, and outreach of one of the world's leading museums of ancient Near Eastern cultures and civilizations. With a PhD in History from the University of California, San Diego, she has over 27 years of experience in teaching, researching, and publishing on Hebrew Bible and Judaism, as well as curating exhibitions of historical and archaeological artifacts. She is Professor Emerita at San Diego State University where she served as Chair of the department for the Study of Religion, the Classics and Humanities department and director of the Jewish Studies Program.Dr. Levitt has worked closely with the Israel Antiquities Authority and various museums across the globe, serving as a curator and consultant for several Dead Sea Scrolls exhibitions and served as a consultant for the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow. Dr. Levitt's mission is to foster intercultural dialogue and understanding through the study and presentation of the rich and diverse heritage of the biblical lands.
