Responsible for contacting NCTE/CCCC to set up RNF meeting of approximately 300+ composition/rhetoric specialists, inviting and securing plenary speakers and discussion leaders, grouping participants at round tables with discussion leaders, editing participants’ abstracts for publication, delegating executive committee members various tasks including publicity, on-line discussion group (http://researchnetworkforum.org/), and composing acceptance letters to participants. Supervise the Forum by coordinating and introducing plenary speakers’ talks, overseeing round table discussions, distributing the program, and orchestrating the editors’ book/journal exhibits. Write grants to cover expenses.

Work with other members of the board to promote Writing Program Administrators in the tri-state area (NYC/NJ/CT). Plan workshops and mini-conferences to those in the composition/rhetoric field. Share ideas among professionals and network about resources available including job openings. The Metropolitan WPA is an affiliate of the Council on Writing Program Administrators.

Directed the educational assistance center that serves over 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Center provided academic support and tutoring for students in all programs. Supervised developmental courses for all new undergraduate students in the areas of writing, reading, and mathematics. Conducted all assessment of the Conklin Academic Skills Center. Recruited and trained professional specialist tutors, peer tutors, supplemental instructors, and adjunct faculty. Maintained the College Reading and Learning Association [CRLA] Tutor Certification standards. Coordinated and lead study skills workshops and worked with other campus members to develop retention initiatives for at-risk students and with faculty in writing-across-the-curriculum initiatives. Administered placement testing to all first-year and transfer students. Maintained budget-neutral management of Center. Served on Committee on Admissions and Students’ Academic Standing, Equal Opportunity Fund Committee, and Middle States Self-Study Task Force on Student Admissions & Retention and Student Support Services. Position was eliminated due to a financial crisis at the college.

Served on board of 18 elected volunteers for a three-year term. In various committees, examined issues impacting alumnae/i body, including community service, admissions, class leadership, the annual fund, regional activities, programming, and communication. Raised more money than any board member through social networking media for Greater Goucher Fund.

Hired adjunct faculty to teach College English. Conducted adjunct instructor teaching observations and mentoring of faculty. Taught first-year composition (English 101-102), Persuasive Academic Writing (English 110-112). Developed and taught courses in Professional Writing I (English 240) and Teaching Elementary Writing (English 470) for new undergraduate writing minor. Developed and Co-Piloted English 112. Designed senior seminar (English 491) on the Female Coming of Age in Fall 2007. Participated in department committees in reviewing course syllabi and developing the Writing Certificate. Assisted Director of Writing with adjunct and instructor teaching observations and mentoring. Facilitated Writing Program in proctoring and scoring Writing Proficiency Examinations [WPE] and Placement Examinations. Conducted WPE Review sessions for students who did not pass the exam. Taught Developmental Writing, Reading, Grammar, and Study Skills courses (English 0091 and 0092), as well as First-Year Composition and Composition/Literature (English 1010 and 1020) and sophomore-level English writing and literature survey courses (English 2040 [American Literature II], 2070 [Business Writing], & 2090 [Women’s Literature]) at a community college established by the state of Louisiana in 1998. Writing courses taught in networked computer classrooms. As premiere faculty, designed and implemented courses, including writing master syllabi, to matriculate towards an Associate’s degree and transfer credit.
