Responsible for technical aspects of customer account management for Trading and Back Office Systems. The customer base consisted of Commodities Trading Firms and Banks.The software was hosted on customer equipment, but supported and maintained by patsystems. This involved a great deal of coordination and Project Management when either patsystems or the customer required upgrades. The system is a proprietary mix of VMS and UNIX/linux SQL servers, and Windows clients. My main responsibilities were to help manage customer requirements, expectations, and timelines during upgrades, assist in supporting end users, and reporting bugs back to development. The company is based in London, so I was responsible for a lot of the office hands on automation and desktop support as well. This role required a lot of charm and mental dexterity to keep all parties involved (Customer, patsystems, various exchanges) on track, informed, and comfortable with ongoing industry required changes.

The Board of Trade Clearing Corporation provided a matching engine and clearing services for the membership of the Chicago Board of Trade. I was hired initially as a member of the IT help desk. Our first large project was to migrate the users from IBM 3270 terminals to a network environment. After that, I was the Manager of the Help Desk for two years, during which I was responsible for the operation and support of all desktop software and hardware. My budget was just under $1,000, 000 per year. I selected and implemented out first email system, eventually migrating it to Microsoft Exchange. During my final three years at BOTCC I worked as a Technical Specialist, where I was the liaison between our customer base and our technical staff. We had rolled out some online reporting, and as late as 2001, many of our smaller customers were yet not using computers as part of their day to day operations. Frequently my job was to help the customer get up to speed on their equipment in a patient, compassionate manner.
