I am a recent neuroscience graduate from UCLA who spends way too much time taking care of his curly hair. Years of frustration, consultation, and experimentation with my unique scalp and hair texture has made me passionate about dermatology, especially due to the gaps in knowledge regarding the manifestation of common diseases on ethnic skin and hair such as myself. I am looking for clinical and research opportunities in dermatology. These can be short term positions, as well as part time jobs for up to 1-2 years.I currently have two years of experience analyzing data with clinical projects that relate to the gut-brain axis, discrimination, and trauma, as well as a year of hands-on clinical experience helping with running MRI scans, patient appointments, and phone screens at UCLA Health. I learned and became proficient coding in R and python as well as learning clinical procedures for screening patients and MRI scans through my work. By the end of my time in the lab, I had lead a project on early life adversity and authored a paper on it. Although I have enjoyed studying the gut-brain axis, I want to transition into something in dermatology.Outside of lab, I play three instruments and am a highly creative, hands on person. Some of my favorite hobbies include outdoor sports such as surfing and dragonboat, as well as outdoor photography. My creativity and hands-on ability are major motivators in my problem solving approach.
