I am currently an undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Dallas pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. My path through college has been untraditional to say the least, starting at The University of Houston for my freshman year. I went to the University of Houston with the intention of pursuing a career in Mechanical Engineering but realized the major and university were not a fit for me after one year. I then transitioned back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to attend Collin College part-time while also working part-time. I began working as a server at a locally owned and operated restaurant called 11/17 as a way to pay for my tuition and save money for the future. In my first serving job, I was quickly promoted to a part-time manager where I developed crucial people and time management skills. I was in charge of training new-hires as well as closing the restaurant down while making sure everything that needed to get done got done throughout and after the shift. I left my job at 11/17 after being there for over four years and made the transition to a larger chain-style restaurant in Sixty Vines. I began working as a server there in November of 2023 and was promoted to bartender within six months of joining the company. At Sixty Vines, my time-management skills were tested and improved as well as my ability to integrate myself into an unfamiliar setting with new people I hadn't yet interacted with. During my time at Collin College, I took multiple introductory Accounting classes and found the career that suited me best. I attained my Associate of Science at Collin College in 2022 but remained a part-time student there in order to save money on certain classes available at both Collin College and The University of Texas at Dallas. I have since transferred to The University of Texas at Dallas in order to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with my long-term goal of becoming CPA certified and working for a public accounting firm.
