As the Chair of Liverpool County FA's Inclusion Advisory Group, I was responsible for leading key individuals and representatives from around the county with the aim of increasing the diversity of football's talent pool, clarifying the regulations related to discriminatory behaviour and instilling confidence in reporting and handling of discrimination cases.

As a member of The Football Association’s Inclusion Advisory Board, I provided critical feedback and guidance to shape the organisation's equality, diversity and inclusion policies, procedures and strategy. This involved regular monitoring the delivery of ‘Football’s Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Action Plan’ for 2013-17 against measurable targets and supporting the organisation by making key recommendations in order to achieve this.

As Kick It Out’s Football League Clubs Development Officer, I provided expert guidance, advice and direction to professional football clubs and key stakeholders on all equality, diversity and inclusion related matters. This predominantly involved supporting the 72 Football League clubs with the achievement of regulatory equality framework through the production and implementation of policy, creating equality, diversity and inclusion strategies and embedding these throughout clubs in innovative and bespoke ways. I provided constant specialist advice to professional football clubs on the most effective way to embed equality, diversity and inclusion into the all business operations, ranging from policy production at executive and director levels, to community outreach and engagement initiatives.

As Liverpool Football Club's Social Inclusion Officer, I managed the club's work in the area of equality, diversity and inclusion both internally and externally, including the promotion of the club as an open, equal and welcoming environment to all individuals and communities. A significant milestone in completing this was the development and management of an internal equality strategy, incorporating all of the club’s equality, diversity and inclusion activities, including the delivery of training, staff and customer monitoring audits and policy writing and implementation. This involved working closely with executive and senior management team members in order to shape the business' policies, practices and processes and ensuring that these were aligned to the targets and principles of the club’s overall strategy, embedding equality into every day operations.Key achievements during this time include;• 2012 – support of the ‘Football v Homophobia’ campaign, becoming one of only a small number of clubs to be involved.• 2013 – development and delivery of the organisation’s engagement with the LGBT community, particularly the signing of ‘The Charter for Action against Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport.’• 2013 – the construction, delivery and facilitation of a bespoke equality and diversity training programme to over 550 full time and part time employees.• 2013 – achievement of the Kick It Out Equality Standard Intermediate Level

As Project Manager for Liverpool FC Foundation, I was responsible for ensuring that the organisation engaged with young people from the diverse backgrounds of the city, including the facilitation and supervision of an evening coaching programme and summer camps. During this time, I managed a team of 20 coaches from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience levels in order to lead a successful social inclusion programme, ultimately delivering over 30 hours of community engagement throughout the city on a weekly basis. In addition to ensuring the successful management of the project, I was responsible for engaging with with key community stakeholders and equality organisations.

For the first 18 months of my time as a Community Coach for Liverpool Football Club, I acted as a volunteer, supporting the coaching team with delivery of sessions and engagement with the club’s local community. In 2004, I was awarded with the Young Person of the Year Award by Liverpool Football Club in recognition of this.
