Deliver a broad range of clinical services to children, teens, and families. Maintain a caseload of complex cases and collaborate with team members to devise, implement, and evaluate wraparound clinical and behavioral plans to best assist the needs of children and their families in their homes and communities. Provide oversight of the design, development, and delivery of therapeutic group services. Work closely with the Director of Counselling Services to coordinate the day-to-day function of counseling services and complete core tasks required for continual organization performance quality improvement.

Demonstrate a specialized knowledge and use of relevant clinical assessments, specialized knowledge of counselling interventions and demonstrate competent application of the with individuals, families, and groups. Hold a knowledge of Codes of Ethics for Counselling work applicable in Bermuda, relevant to background training and wide knowledge of mental health issues.

Able to work with children who have a range of psychological difficulties including depression, ADHD, learning difficulties and anxiety disorders. Able to improve children’s self-awareness, and emotional and social abilities. I am capable of working closely with parents. I am competent in various design programs of therapy and care to improve a child’s sense of well-being. I have experience working with very emotionally disturbed children, including those who have been the victims of abuse or other emotional trauma. A high degree of empathy and strong social skills are required, as well as the ability to maintain a professional distance from patients.By allowing children to play with toys and engage in other enjoyable activities, I am able to help children express their feelings and learn to resolve their problems on their own.I encompass experience with children between the ages of three and 11, and have occasionally treated adolescents and adults as well. I have conducted therapy on an individual basis, and children are able to use toys and leisure activities to symbolize their thoughts and feelings. I am capable and experienced with consulting with other mental health professionals, including officials at hospitals, clinics, and schools in an effort to understand the child's unique situation and emotional needs. I have experience in maintaining a schedule independently to meet with children once a week for approximately forty five minutes to an hour and using the initial sessions to establish a sense of comfort and routine for clients. As a play therapist intern I allow children to play with toys and express their feelings through therapeutic play. As children come to acknowledge their issues, they are able to find healthy ways of dealing with their problems, and resolutions can be acted out in a therapeutic setting until children can adapt them into life strategies.

Assess psychiatric inpatient clients to facilitate appropriate discharge and placement planning, complete psychosocial assessments and other required documentation, provide input to the treatment team, and facilitate activity group. Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and support services to clients as needed.Emphasize prevention, and work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. Help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress management, problems with self-esteem, issues associated with aging, job and career concerns, educational decisions, issues related to mental and emotional health, and family, parenting, and marital problems. Work closely with other mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, and school counselors.Possess high physical and emotional energy to handle the array of problems they address. Dealing daily with these problems can cause stress. Uphold privacy, confidential and frank discussions with clients. I have a strong interest in helping others and the ability to inspire respect, trust, and confidence. I am able to work independently or as part of a team. I am also capable of and experienced with following the code of ethics associated with mental health.
