Main activities and responsibilities:- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools. - Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. In accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. - Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure. - Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks,identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.- Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. - Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. - Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. - Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks. - Participate in the design of information and operational support systems. - Provide 2nd and 3rd level support. - Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
