Dr. Rita Becker is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for Eastern York School District. Her background in public education includes 30 years of experience at the elementary, secondary, and administrative levels. She is passionate about the growing need to transform educational practices to create authentic and collaborative learning environments that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and student voice and choice. In efforts to create classrooms for modern learners, Rita works with administration and staff in effectively designing and delivering both professional development and educational content for 24/7 availability with an emphasis on making learning personal for all learners. She has effectively collaborated with school-wide administration to successfully develop and implement the district's newly defined instructional model which is applicable across all content areas and grade levels. Rita also works with teachers and administrators to create a modern curriculum that incorporates opportunities for personalized pathways for students and the principles of the district's instructional model. Rita also has aligned professional learning content to the new instructional model so teachers can track their proficiency against the new model. Rita has developed model learning plans which are aligned with the new instructional model and are available to all teachers digitally. While working with teachers to modernize the district’s curriculum, she is currently designing ways to track learning from K-12 using Learning Progressions which will provide teachers and students with the pathway and measurement tool necessary to build personalized pathways for students.
