My current work with HETTAS includes setting up the various protocols, rules and reporting systems to ensure compliance to USAID, GF, Western Cape DoH and other donors’ requirements. Streamlining systems to meet the intermediary grantors of PACT, ACE and the HSPH who subcontracted HETTAS as part of the funding grants provided to SA organisations for prevention education interventions for the HIV/AIDS context has provided extensive skills in understanding the various compliance requirements. HETTAS works with a number of partners in providing training and technical assistance to prevention partners with Peer Education as its main focus. The responsibility to accurately report on expenditure to all grantees has been managed through 3 local audits without queries. The financial management function includes reporting and submission of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, financial forecasts and budgets to comply with the requirements of the Section 21 and donors. The portfolio oversees general accounting functions, administration of financial management systems, and HR function. Preparing the financial documents for the HETTAS Board of Directors is included in the variety of financial activities and is concerned with financial forecasts and reports. Invoicing debtors and creditors is a monthly activity and the development of SLA for service providers is managed as part of the financial portfolio. HETTAS is concerned with ongoing fund raising that requires sometimes complicated budget development. All these budget and proposal developments are linked to project activities that requires insight into the operations of the organisation and I was instrumental in developing the necessary insight to link budgets to activities.
