In short, Benchers regulate the practice of law in BC, provide governance/director oversight and strategic direction for the Law Society and the legal profession in BC, develop policy and ethical and other rules and adjudicate allegations of breach, questions of fitness and competency, as well as provide advice to BC lawyers and articled students. In this capacity, amongst other things, I have chaired the Audit Committee and been the Lawyers Insurance Fund oversight liaison, chaired the Practice Standards Committee and the Discipline Committee, I have been active on the Governance Committee and its predecessor, the Governance Task Force, and annually, taught legal ethics.
