….soooo, I was wondering… When you were a child, do you think your passions then molds you into what you become in your professional life???? Even from a child, I was intuitive of the needs around me. One of my family member’s was intellectually disabled. He didn’t know how to read. I remember from a young age, probably in second grade, wanting to teach him how to read. I would ask him, “Do you want me to teach him how to read?” He would reply, “YES!” Now let’s fast forward a bit, into my professional life: A caring Mental Health Outreach Specialist that has traveled between Southeast Louisiana and Southwest Louisiana for over six years developing lasting relationships with professional medical staff to build referral sources. Taking away the stigma. I distribute Educational Resource Materials out to hospitals. Upon contact of referral source I Track Progress of admit status of the patient. Follow- up on referral sources. If problems arise, we look for resolutions. Patient Satisfaction is important. I ask the referral source what the patients think about our facility. I relay information to the appropriate staff. Ever Looking for Strategic plans to execute the next idea. Ever looking for ways to improve the skills from yesterday. Ever looking for new things to learn to improve on today. And ever looking to set new Goals for a better and brighter tomorrow. The intuitiveness as a child has now become a passion that pushes me from mediocrity, into a realm of tenacity and persistence, to advocate for those who have suffered long enough with Mental Health Issues!
