I developed my Master Thesis titled "Development of Nanoimprint Lithography processes for state-of-the-art light management strategies to be integrated in CIGS solar cells", working within the Nanofabrication for Optoelectronic Applications (NOA) group at INL, graded 19/20. Over my stay at INL I earned valuable hands-on experience and worked independently within the clean room facility, employing fabrication and characterization techniques such as Reactive Ion Etching, Nanoimprint Lithography, Scanning Electron Microscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. In addition, I also worked with the Lumerical FDTD software to run optical simulations for the optimization of the nanostructures that were produced. This work resulted in the production and characterization of three proof-of-concept samples with sub-wavelength dimensions for light management applications in ultrathin CIGS solar cells, using NIL: an anti-reflective moth-eye NIL stamp and two SiO2 photonic crystal structures for light scattering. Lastly, team work played a huge role in the success of this project. Working in NOA, I developed my cooperation and communication skills, as well as organization. I gained a goal-oriented mindset and time-management that will continue to employ in future projects.
