In the Kaplan Lab, I'm processing bald cypress swamp data in RStudio and Microsoft Excel. My primary task is writing a function that will automate data compilation and visualization from multiple collaborators, which will be applied to previously collected data and streamline future analysis.

Mentoring students in their introduction to several engineering technical skills, including:- 3D-modeling in OnShape- 3D-printing (on Prusa printers and several Lulzbot models)- Soldering, circuitry, and basic programming using Arduino microprocessors- Rapid prototyping basicsThis position also adds a mentorship element, in which I serve as a resource to engineering students within the class. This includes an emphasis on creating a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment that encourages students to get involved and get the most out of taking the class. I have also worked with the course coordinator to improve the class, and develop "Beginners Workshops" that give students additional opportunities to gain confidence in technical skills that are relevant to the final design project.

In the Todd-Brown Lab, I am working on a land carbon modelling project, and using analytical mathematics, collaboration, and programming in RStudio. In a previous project, I worked with other students to develop a template for harmonizing international soil datasets, which was also done using RStudio.This lab has given me the opportunity to give research presentations, and get experience with documentation, manuscript preparation and giving regular progress report outs.

Attending classes in-person to answer student questions about in-class coding activities, and assisting the professor as needed, which typically consists of course development and finding additional class recourses that are relevant to weekly topics. I also host regular office hours to assist students with understanding key concepts, debugging code, and answering clarifying questions on assignments.

At Wade Trim’s summer internship program, I worked closely with the water resources team to gain a working knowledge of 2D and 3D pipe design in AutoCAD and Civil3D by creating plan and profile sheets and working on the QAQC of these projects. I also generated survey figures in ArcGIS, processed concrete testing reports, went on site visits, and assisted with asset management of a project that had recently finished construction. Additionally, I participated in an intern sustainability initiative, where I worked with other interns to understand Wade Trim's climate impact using the EPA's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator and the CDP disclosure system, and presented these results.
