As a Nurse Practitioner I have trained to care for many conditions and provide health maintenance for chronic medical conditions. I promote health through educating the patient and their family on the relevance of lifestyle and health. If someone comes to me with symptoms of a health condition, through differential diagnosis I make an assessment and plan of care. While determining care, I consider the ability of the patient to follow through with the teaching and cost to them. With the many conditions that are seen as a Nurse Practitioner, I am prepared to provide care for health maintenance, health promotion and acute conditions.As a staff nurse on the Maternal Special Care Unit, I care for the antepartum patient that may be facing a medical condition that could be fatal for mother or fetus. With fetal monitoring I am able to evaluate the status of the fetus and make an assessment of need for further monitoring and notification to the provider. The mother may require urgent intervention or continued monitoring. Through using the patient EMR, care documentation can be streamlined, allowing for up to date information on patient lab results, medications and plan of care. Along with the antepartum patient, I care for the gynecologic patient. Many of the gynecology patients require cardiac telemetry monitoring. Because I am an ACLS certified nurse, I have prepared for a medical emergency that may be captured on telemetry.
