Senior Associate Attorney
• Concentrate practice in insurance defense claims, specifically representing employers in workers’ compensation claims through trial and appeal at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission• Responsible for the management and litigation of caseload in excess of 70 files, including preparation of witness testimony and participation in expert witness depositions and settlement conferences • Engage in extensive client relations, including: presentations on current case law, strategic analysis of cost saving tactics and client training in areas of legal significance • Conduct extensive investigation into facts of workers’ compensation claims in order to advise clients regarding trial exposure, strength of applicable defenses and settlement recommendations• Draft contracts reflecting termination and/or waiver of benefits relating to workers’ compensation claims, subrogation rights and employment releases• Develop and implement new firm procedures to streamline more effective opening, closing and management of files• Manage, hire, and conduct bi-annual performance evaluations of 6 member administrative staff• Train and mentor junior associates in the practice of workers’ compensation defense, including aggressive case handling and effective client communication.
