🌟 About Me 🌟I am the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Tasveer, a pioneering nonprofit dedicated to driving social change through the power of film, storytelling, and representation. Born from a mission to uplift underrepresented South Asian voices in the wake of 9/11, Tasveer has grown into a globally celebrated platform. In 2023, we made history by becoming the world’s only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival, opening new doors for South Asian narratives to engage international audiences. Again in 2024, identifying a significant gap in the industry, I also launched the first-ever Tasveer Film Market—a transformative platform designed to help South Asian storytellers get their films greenlit and connect with global producers, distributors, and financiers.Additionally, I led the creation of the South Asian Film Fund in partnership with Netflix and secured the first-ever in-flight distribution of South Asian films on Alaska Airlines.I did my Bachelors in Japanese from Jawaharlal Nehru University and further studied in Japan. Following that, I began my career working as a Coordinator for International Relations and co-produced a television program for Japanese viewers. Upon moving to Seattle, I worked in TV with Komo TV, Puget Sound Access TV, and Seattle Community Access, eventually garnering honors such as Rising Stars (2015) by Northwest Asian Weekly, Seattle Globalist of the Year (2015), and Excellence in Arts (2016) by the International Examiner. My creative work includes editing the award-winning Bangladeshi documentary Threads, directing my short film Citizenship 101 (inspired by my immigrant experiences), and producing South Asian diaspora stories.
