I perform a variety of roles for City Smarts, including remote teaching and instructional design. As a teacher, I primarily teach math (ranging from Pre-Calc to Calc II), Spanish, and test prep (including SAT, ACT, and SHSAT). I work individually with different students to improve both their school performance and self-confidence by helping them create good student habits and understand their learning styles. Finally, I collect data on student performance to implement changes in my teaching methods and curriculum.As an instructional designer, I design curriculum for City Smarts's online classes, including homeschool classes, math classes, test prep classes, and Spanish classes.

I've worked with many different organizations as a freelancer, including major institutions like Varsity Tutors and smaller NGOs like the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Brooklyn Tabernacle. I've created video series for both Varsity Tutors and the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault by utilizing tools such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop. I've also worked as an instructional designer, creating a complete College Readiness Course for the Brooklyn Tabernacle including the curriculum, schedule, student learning objectives, and post-course assessment.

I worked for Veritas Prep as both a content creator and an educator. One of my major successes for Veritas Prep was creating (including writing, filming, and editing) a 60-part video series on Algebra I, a course used by Varsity Tutors (which purchased Veritas Prep in 2018) to this day. I also was responsible for creating blog posts on test prep tricks and college readiness tips for Veritas. As an educator, I taught in-person and online test prep classes (ACT and SAT) of up to 30 high school students. I also managed a weekly schedule of 15+ one-on-one tutoring appointments, both in-person and remote.

I worked with Georgetown University professors and instructional design staff to create an accredited edX course. I researched and wrote original curriculum and engagement materials, including portions of a virtual textbook, scripts for lectures, virtual quizzes, and marketing content. Materials ranged from short (emails, social media posts at ~200 words each) to long (textbook chapters of 10,000+ words). I also drove student enrollment and engagement by leveraging SEO keywords, targeted email campaigns, and social media posts on Facebook and edX. Finally, I served as a teaching assistant during the live course.

I volunteered as a local leader for the Bernie Sanders campaign in Woodside, Queens, a religiously and racially diverse neighborhood in New York City. I worked directly with Bernie Sanders Campaign official staff on outreach strategies for local communities.
