Rita Tobin recently joined the not-for-profit community as a fundraiser and has 25 years experience as an attorney. Her legal practice focuses on contract negotiation, dispute resolution and employment law. Ms. Tobin has participated in representation of claimant constituencies in over a dozen mass tort bankruptcies or class actions. Her recent representations include negotiating with creditor constituencies and debtors in the reorganization of the subsidiary of a major pharmaceutical company; negotiating on behalf of a tort claimant in a historic automotive industry bankruptcy; litigating on behalf of an employee regarding back pay; representing employees regarding the negotiation of separation agreements and in EEOC and federal court proceedings; and assisting not-for-profits in obtaining state NYS certification and 501(c) status. Ms. Tobin is admitted to practice in New York State; the United States Courts for the Southern District and Eastern District of New York; and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
