Being a scientist is not about seeking absolute truths, but about patiently waiting to be proven wrong. This humbles me as much as it excites me for the future, because the more I know, the more I understand that I have a lot to learn.With 4+ years experience in scientific communications, I have understood that the uncertainty that excites me so much can be very daunting for most people. In fact, studies have shown that humans prefer bad outcomes over not knowing what’s going to happen. Perhaps that’s why fear-based marketing has been so successful so far. But this will not last forever.We live in a post-truth society, where consumers have started to heavily question the oftentimes empty statements made by companies. And I am ready for this shift. I want to help customers take control of their purchasing choices by embracing the variables, as much as I want to support companies in their mission to become more transparent, and honest in their accountability.Science has also taught me that I can’t do what I do alone: I rely on a community of experts in their respective fields, and value team work as the foundation of any really good idea. My role allows me to collaborate with multiple departments as we work together to develop new products, new messages and new ways of doing things. I have learned so much along the way, and can’t wait to see what comes next ;)
