About Rita Maalouf
I am Rita Maalouf, a Research and Development Specialist, currently in charge of phage display platform at ProteoGenix.I hold a PhD from the Technology University of Compiègne, France and the National Museum of Natural History, Paris. During my PhD, I worked on the detection of microcystin-LR using antibodies fragments from phage display libraries. In addition to, I hold a masters degree in “Functional genetics and macromolecules structures and interactions” at Saint Joseph University, Beirut; and a BS degree in Laboratory Sciences from the Lebanese University. My research interests have been fostered by several internships and professional experiences, of which I mention :As part of my Postdoctoral Researcher experience, I worked on designing a long-acting and targeted nanomedicines for inhalation, at Liège University.Moreover, I worked as a cytogenetic technologist at Saint George hospital for four years. In addition to, as part of my master 1 internship program, the Bacillus Thirungiensis parasporin genes were the subject of my research, along with searching for their presence in new strains isolated from the Lebanese soil. During my master 2 internship, I spent 6 months in the human genetics center of Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, Belgium, working on the detection of trisomy 21 in the non-invasive prenatal diagnosis using CGH arrays.My professional experience allowed me to build solid technical and experimental skills, to adapt to teamwork and be fully integrated within the laboratories. These attributes, combined with my enthusiasm to learn, were essential to my contributions and success duringthese internships. During my PhD, I gained both research and teaching experience. I had the opportunity to teach practical and directed works in biology and cellular physiology, to freshmen and senior students majoring in biology engineering.
