As a designer at Tracey Shiffman Design, I participated in the entire design and production process from kick-off meeting to fulfillment and delivery of final product. I worked closely with Tracey Shiffman to conceive and develop concepts for clients such as MOCA (Los Angeles), The Broad Foundation (Los Angeles), LACMA (LA County Museum of Art), and more. I was responsible for the design of and supervised production of book, branded print, packaging and multi-media projects. I participated in press, color, and bindery approvals for studio projects and participated in client meetings. I was the daily contact for all clients, and vendors. I ran the daily operation of the studio which included client relations, developing and implementing administrative systems, fielding and handling problems as they arose, assisting with estimating and invoicing, and supervising the production assistant.

I started my relationship with Tracey Shiffman at Art Center College of Design where she was my instructor in book design and typography. I started my internship with Tracey during my seventh and last term. During my time as an intern, I learned a great deal about the fine arts of concept development, branding, typography, design, and production. As a 25+ year veteran, Tracey taught me how to work quickly with precision, focus and stamina.In addition to receiving an invaluable education in Design I also learned how to structure and organize complex jobs in order to streamline processes and cut down errors and costs. I learned how to communicate with clients and how to handle a wide range of problems that occur during the course of a project. I gained experience in communicating with vendors both here in the US and abroad.

Working with Young Communications Group, I have had the opportunity to be involved in not only the design aspects of projects, but I have also participated in strategic planning for and implementation of comprehensive communications campaigns for non-profits and corporations. Working closely with Gwendolyn Young and her team, I have also helped to develop responses to RFPs by participating in and contributing to strategic planning meetings, writing and brainstorming meetings and pitch presentations. Once we begin work on a campaign I continue to collaborate closely with the team in order to tailor the campaign to the client's needs and any changing conditions or requirements.As my mentor for close to 10 years, Gwendolyn Young--with 25+ years of experience--has helped me to develop solid writing and communications skills and has imbued me with a thorough understanding of strategic marketing and public relations.In addition to these responsibilities, I also take the lead on all design components of projects that I am involved in.
