The "Interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Human Performance" (CIPER - Centro Interdisciplinar da Performance Humana) is a Research Unit located at the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (Faculty of Human Kinetics) - Universidade de Lisboa (University of Lisbon), aiming at promoting multidisciplinary research synergies. Its research is rooted within human functioning and performance and applies multidimensional models looking at the interaction of body structure, functions, activities performance and contextual factors. CIPER focuses on the identification and understanding of human functioning, performance determinants and their optimization. Human activity is analysed in different contexts, taking into account lifespan and human diversity (including disability), with the purpose of improving research and intervention methods and promote health and well-being.

The EuropeActive's Professional Standards Committee (former EHFA's Standards Council) is the independent body able to providing strategic advice, guidance and direction to EuropeActive, in relation to Standards for People, Programmes and Places across the Health and Fitness sector. It supports the vision to achieve the EuropeActive's main goal to get More People, More Active, More Often.The Professional Standards Committee is responsible for the direction and strategic thinking for the developing regulatory framework, which underpins public confidence in the work and development of the European Health and Fitness industry, and in a complex environment of European dimensions. The Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior (Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior - ESDRM), is a public Portuguese higher education school integrated in the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (Instituto Politécnico de Santarém - IPS), Portugal. ESDRM was established in 1997 and presently has approximately 100 staff members and 800 students. This new institution is devoted to Sports Sciences, training and research. ESDRM provides 5 graduations (1st cycle), 2 master degrees (2nd cycle) and several post-graduate/short term programs (which do not provide a degree) on the following subjects: Sports Coaching, Fitness and Health, Outdoor Sports, Nature Tourism, Sports Psychology, Sports Management, Lifestyle, and Physical Activity and Special Populations. The school has a Sports Research Centre and is integrated in the consortium that created the Centre for Research in Sports, Health & Human Development (Centro de Investigação em Desporto, Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano - CIDESD) supported by the National Foundation for Science & Technology (FCT), which most of the teachers belong to.
