Lykke is a fintech start-up building an app to bring cryptocurrency trading to the broader population.I was part of the integrations team, who was responsible for integrating the system with currency exchanges, banks and blockchain nodes. I successfully headed the development of two projects. A proxy/gateway service which all of the other services in the system used make external calls to 3rd party providers. A data collection service which collected trade and transaction data from external exchanges and fed the data into the system.I integrated the user management service with Zendesk and I took over the development of the pricing and hedging engine to bring it in line with other services within the system.

Jet2 is a well-established budget flights and holidays provider in the UK.I was on the integrations team, I was part of the search project, a rewrite of the search engine that powers the Jet2 Holidays website. I assisted with developing services that collected data from Jet2's providers using .Net Core, Akka.Net and Kafka. Using previous experiences, I helped the testers get started with acceptance testing using Specflow. I also developed the CI/CD process to release components to a K8s cluster and execute the acceptance tests against it.

When I joined VQ they had a dotnet core application running on Linux on-prem at customer sites. My first task was to replace the proprietary messaging system with RabbitMQ. This meant completely rewriting parts of the system and introducing tests where there was none. As dotnet core was still in its infancy I used RawRabbit as the library to send messages, this was later switched to Mass Transit a more mature library with a larger community behind it.I introduced structured logging by adding Serilog, later on this became really useful as we moved to a centralized logging system using Elasticsearch, Fluentd & Kibana. The system was migrated to Kuberneties, as part of the migration the I decoupled some of the processes in the main application in to dedicated services, such as the user importer service. I wrote the yaml pod files for the new service s so they could be deployed into our Kuberneties cluster.Kuberneties pods have readiness and liveliness probes. I added AppMetrics, a .net packages that adds health-checking and application metrices, to our services.While other team members setup & configured the Kuberneties infrastructure I deployed our cluster into Googles GKE so we could run e2e integration tests.

I was the agile leader and a developer in building a green field ticketing system using NancyFX & CQRS+Eventsourcing which was hosted in Azure.As the scrum master / agile leader I introduced the existing team to SCRUM. With regular retrospectives the team soon evolved SCRUM to fit our process.Throughout the project the team used Domain Driven Design techniques to gather requirements and develop the application. I facilitated eventstorming sessions with our domain experts off the back of the meetings wrote user stories and scenarios with the developers and tester.As well as my agile lead responsibilities I was also involved with the daily development of the backend server components.The application had a React frontend, and a used NancyFX as the HTTP API.The API was hosted in an Azure WebApp and talked to Azure SQL via Dapper. The application used the CQRS pattern and the writes to the system were Event Sourced using EventStore.I used Terraform and Packer to script and deploy our infrastructure in Azure, and OctopusDeploy to deploy our applications

I was one of the inaugural developers in a social media startup. I developed a HTTP API hosted in Azure using Asp.Net WebAPI. The startup was based in Amsterdam and the dev team based in Leeds.During the development of the API I regularly consulted with engineers at Microsoft, occasionally meeting with them in MS’s Amsterdam office.I used the Command/Query Separation pattern, requests would come into the API and would publish the messages on to a Storage Queue. A worker role would pick-up the message from the queue and write to a Table Storage table.My notable contributions to the application were the original CQS pattern, adding o-auth authentication, working with MS to develop App Insights while it was still in beta, a wrapper around Table Storage which gave us an entity Framework like context and load testing the API with JMeter.Outside of my developer role I ran the SCRUM ceremonies while the SCRUM Master was out of the office and I was involved in the hiring process when the team expanded.

HH Global is a Digital Media and Print Management company. I was team lead for the integrations team. We were in charge of integrating internal and external systems with the HH’s core product HHub, a procurement system built on MVC5 and SQL server.As team lead I worked with stake holders to gather requirements, then wrote the requirements up as user stories and scenarios. I would take to the requirements to the dev team where we would plan work items and estimate them.The team integrated a specification module, a questionnaire to gather requirements for the print order. An import for the Catalogue module, the Catalogue was a public consumer version of HHub which had a predefined list of products. The Importer imported the predefined list into the Catalogue. The team also extended the authentication module to authenticate with HP’s authentication system.

I am part of a small web development team, writing bespoke solutions for the food industry, using sharp architecture and our own flexible entity attribute value system, Pyramid 2.I use specflow to write executable user scenarios, nunit for unit testing, and pair programming. Our process also includes daily stand-ups, and regular planning / retrospective sessions.

I was part of a 3 man team writing and maintaining the internal software of Autoclimate, a company in the automotive industry.The team followed SCRUM practices, with weekly planning and progress meeting and daily stand ups for the development team.Most of the applications where web applications, using ASP.Net MVC and interfacing with third party web services or storing data the company collected.My most successful project was a re-write of a legacy VB6 app into a MVC 3 web application. The application was used to maintain a database of vehicles and their parts and which parts could be sourced by the company.

I was part of a small team of Support Developers. Allocate write software for the Health & Social Care, Defence & Maritime. I was part of the Health Care Sector.My main responsibilities consisted of writing software fixes for bugs that where found by our users and helping the users through more complicated support issues.In this time I taught myself ASP.Net and rewrote the help desk software. I also wrote a Web Forms application which was used to Release our software and communicate with our users.
