My name is Ritayan, and I work as a Independent photographer based from Kolkata. My main focus area for work is rural India, where I report on climate change, agriculture, health care, and cultural topics. My editorial client includes World Bank Group, German doctors. I have over 100 published works in national and international media. As a photographer, I've contributed to three books. In addition, I am a Senior Fellow at The People's Archive of Rural India (PARI), which is India's premier multimedia digital journalism platform which focuses on stories from rural India. As a member of the PARI team, I was awarded the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards (RNG Awards), India's most prestigious journalism honors, in 2022Since 2016, I've been working on a long-term project to capture the lifestyles of pastoral and nomadic communities in India, particularly the Kachchh district of India, western and eastern Himalayas. The name of my project is "Sans Terre". My project has multiple collaborations which includes Centre for Pastoralism (CFP) India’s leading organization which works on pastoralists, pastoral economy ,Forest right act and India’s indigenous breeds.I also have 16 years of work experience in the shipping and freight forwarding sector, and I hold a master's degree in Logistics and Transportation management from the Indian Institute of Social and Business Management in Kolkata. And starting in 2019, I became a full-time photographer, leaving my established corporate employment.
