About Ritch Ramey

I’ve spent more than 35 years in the advanced manufacturing field, focusing on education and workforce development. As the Director of Education at the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), I work with over 1,300 member companies and organizations to develop educational programs and workforce initiatives that drive automation and smart manufacturing forward. I’m passionate about promoting career exploration and skills training in robotics, automation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.My experience spans program development, marketing, public speaking, grant writing, and curriculum creation. I’ve coordinated local, regional, and state CAD contests for SkillsUSA, served as Ohio's VEX Robotics State Coordinator for many years, and was the Outreach Coordinator for the National Robotics Challenge from 2003 until 2022. These experiences have strengthened my dedication to nurturing the next generation of engineers and technologists.As a PLTW-certified instructor, I’ve taught high school courses in Digital Electronics (DE), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), and Engineering Design and Development (EDD). I’m also certified in teaching industrial and collaborative robotics, including Yaskawa Motoman, FANUC, and Universal Robots, as well as courses in Parker Hydraulics, Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs, and SolidWorks. These teaching experiences have allowed me to mentor students and professionals in cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.I hold a Bachelor of Science in Advanced Technology from Bowling Green State University and an Associate of Applied Science in Engineering from Marion Technical College, along with a Career Tech Education Certification from the University of Toledo.In addition to my role at A3, I serve on the ARM Institute’s Educational Workforce Advisory Committee, where I help shape national strategies for advancing robotics and manufacturing education. I’m honored to have been recognized for my efforts with awards like the Marion Technical College Hall of Fame (2021), ARM Institute Champion Award (2022), and the National Robotics Challenge Dr. James Hannamann Award (2019).I’m driven by the belief that education is key to the future of automation and am committed to helping students and professionals alike find their path in this exciting industry.
