Responsible for the development and implementation of environment strategy for Rio Tinto Coal Australia’s Queensland and New South Wales operations.Key Achievements:• Engaging with regulators and site personnel to successfully minimise production losses arising from flooding during the 2010/11 and 2011/12 extreme wet seasons; including the introduction of wet-season preparedness planning at RTCA operations, and appearing at the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry• Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of closure planning at RTCA and improving the process of annual closure cost estimation for the purposes of provisioning, asset valuation and security bonding• Ensuring strong relationships with external government environmental and related agencies, and relevant industry bodies in Queensland and NSW• Represent RTCA and Energy and Minerals product group perspectives at various Rio Tinto global fora• Maintain and improve RTCA’s ISO14001 certified HSEC Management System• Transitioning a legacy underground site to near-relinquishment stage• Represent RTCA on various related bodies including ACARP (Open-Cut Committee, Greenhouse Committee, co-chair Environment Task Group), the Queensland Resources Council Strategic Advisory Committee and the Board of the Coal Minesite Rehabilitation Trust Fund

Reporting to the CEO; provide policy, strategic and operational support and advice to the Executive and Board of Cement Australia on all matters relating to sustainability and climate change.Key achievements:• Complete closure and relinquishment of the Calcium limestone mining operations near Mt Morgan as well as a number of associated mineral mining operations. • Complete rehabilitation and relinquishment of QCL’s Moreton Bay mineral dredging leases • Facilitate the management of various projects using Holcim’s Project Management Approach • Establish a WBCSD and NGERS compliant carbon dioxide reporting system integrated with Cement Australia’s business enterprise management system• Engage with Australian and State governments with respect to sustainability and climate change issues• Work with the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development to train leaders from the Chinese cement industry in carbon accounting through seven regional tours of China• Develop strategic stakeholder communications plans and manage implementation across a number of regional areas with varying risks and issues

Reporting to the Board of the Cement Industry Federation, maintain ongoing projects and industry engagement activities while a replacement Chief Executive Officer being recruited. Key responsibilities:• Manage all aspects of CIF business• Liaise with member CEO’s and CFO’s to present the industry’s position with respect to the Resources Super Profits Tax (RSPT) policy to key Australian government ministers; successfully excluding domestic resource use from the policy• Provide handover advice to the incoming CEO candidate

Providing technical and policy support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of the CIF on all matters relating to environment and sustainability within the Australian Cement industry. Key responsibilities:• Engage with key government departments, ministers and ministerial staff on policy issues of relevance to the cement industry• Provide executive support to the CIF Sustainability Task Force• Administer the industry’s Greenhouse Challenge Plus aggregate agreement including member liaison and training• Draft the CIF bi-annual sustainability report• Draft industry position statements and submissions in relation to State and Federal government policy and legislative proposals

Provide strategic and operational support and advice to the executive management, Board and Board committees, as well as all company operations in relation to environmental management issues.Key achievements:• Co-draft/draft and release the 1998, 1999 and 2000 public environmental/sustainability reports for the QCL Group• Design and implement an all-risks, intranet–based incident reporting system subsequently adopted by Holcim companies in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Thailand• Recipient of 2001 QCL Group Excellence Award for development and implementation of the incident reporting and document/data collection systems developed
