About Ritesh Kumar

I am a linguist by training and my area of specialization is computational linguistics and pragmatics. I am also interested in language documentation of smaller, tribal and endangered languages, sociolinguistics and syntax-pragmatics interface. My current research especially focusses on NLP for Social Good (incl hate speech and aggressive language identification) and speech technologies and resources for minoritised and endangered Indian languages. I have finished my Ph.D. on "Politeness in Hindi Online Texts: Pragmatic and Computational Aspects" from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2014 and I am working as Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra since 2013, where I also coordinate an MSc program in Computational Linguistics.
